4th week
well that was a hard week. but i learnt a great deal. i think i now know what i have to do to actually be able to teach properly. i'll give you a clue. the clue is, what is important is invisible to the eye.
everyone knows it is not in the notes that the learning occurs. nor is it in the hearing or speaking. it is in the questions you ask yourself. when you ask the right questions, you can start to think of answers, only then can you question the answers. and the learning can begin.

3rd week
the third week has been another one full of fun and learning. i still need to ask more questions and force the students to think more. i don't wait long enough after asking a question before i then give the answer. now the students are accustomed to this they expect me to give the answer and i do all the work. i have to change that.

2nd week
week 2 in bilo has brought lots of work. 2nd prac takes way more work to get it all together the way it should be. i've started my own unit with the grade 10's and found some interesting results on their problem solving ability. they need some work on this.
i went to my first ever race day last weekend. the thangool race day about 10k from bilo was so different to the usual quiet weekends. lots of people dressed up in hats, suits, and their best flannel and jeans. it was a good day out in the country.
and the night skys up here are amazing. so dark and clear, i'll have to drive out of town one night to get a good view.
