cooperate

people can achieve so much more when they work together
yet so often people work against each other
or more commonly, with their 'kind' against another 'kind'
and often alone for themselves

somewhere our ubuntu has been lost
few search to find
many search to benefit one
to the detriment of many

severed heads

like a severed head
the dead eyes opened
a detached appendage
critical to function
not ready to work
pulled by strings
tenuous attachment
the dead ears hear
cries for help
left unanswered

with apologies to the severed heads

6 weeks to go

today was a great student free day
lots of work and planning got done
new lesson ideas, chat and discussion

i found out i'll be moving to mt isa
sometime after the 15'th of jan07
and i've got a big scary move to make
into a new sharehouse with people i've
yet to meet. it's a good kind of scary
however, with lots of potential and fun
adventures in store.

a new job

i'm off to mt isa next year to teach physics and some senior maths which i am looking forward to. i get to teach in my areas and some senior classes too which is the best thing. it'll be a long drive to the beach though, but a lot closer to the outback. i can't wait to get a full time pay.

an inconvenient truth

i saw the movie today
i think i have been complacent in my own little world
i recommend that you see it too if you can
it may be inconvenient to change how you live
but as al gore puts it, can we really be stupid enough to risk losing the only life support that we have?
the inconvenience of that consequence would be unimagineable.
